The VSO Flight course is a knowledge and experience-based application of safety concepts and introduction to site specific safety considerations for small UAS operations. Upon completion of the course students will be able to demonstrate concepts of unmanned aviation safety to unmanned operations; conduct pre-flight risk assessments; perform initial qualification maneuvers to practical testing standards; demonstrate psycho-motor skills necessary for safe flight; demonstrate safe attitudes toward professional operations; demonstrate aeronautical decision making skills; operate in GPS denied environment; demonstrate response to simulated emergency situations and use of safety systems. Prerequisite: Hold a FAA Remote Pilot in Command Certificate, or have completed CAC Unmanned Aircraft Systems Fundamentals Certificate. Corequisite: UAS171.
