Course Description

The VSO Ground course is a practical application of safety concepts and introduction to site specific safety considerations for small UAS operations. Upon completion of the course students will be able to apply concepts of unmanned aviation safety to unmanned operations; conduct pre-flight risk assessments; perform checklist procedures; record and track remote pilot and maintenance requirements; create safety analysis for new locations; understand remote sensing concepts for different industry clusters; distinguish between and identify appropriate datalink configurations; manipulate unmanned aircraft safety features and utilization of features for operations. Prerequisite: Hold a FAA Remote Pilot in Command Certificate, or have completed CAC Unmanned Aircraft Systems Fundamentals Certificate. Corequisite: UAS172.
