Course Description

This course focuses on applying developmentally appropriate instructional delivery, facilitation, and methodologies for teaching Science and Social Studies in grades K-8. Class topics include standards-based instruction, inquiry-based learning, assessment practices, evidence-based strategies and engagement, 21st Century Learning, and connections with Social Studies and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering , the Arts, and Mathematics). Interdisciplinary unit planning includes instructional design, lesson planning, and assessment methods for monitoring and reporting progress, connecting Science and Social studies across content areas (language, math, and the arts).
