Course Description
This course prepares students for CDL testing in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) standards. Students will learn about the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs), Compliance, Safety, and Accountability (CSA), as well as the rules of the road. This course also covers driver qualifications and disqualifications, alcohol and drug testing practices, medical certification requirements, distracted driving, and an introduction to the control and operation of the vehicle. Additionally, this course explains hours of service requirements. This course is a great way to prepare for the CDL permit test. This course utilizes sections of the Arizona CDL Manual and the J.J. Keller Entry Level Driver Training Manual. Prerequisites: A clean/valid drivers license held for no less than one year. You are at least twenty-one (21) years of age if pursuing an interstate CDL, or at least eighteen (18) years of age if you are pursuing an intrastate CDL. You will comply with U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) regulations in parts 40, 382, 383, and 391 as well as State and/or local laws, related to controlled substances testing, age, medical certification, licensing, and driving record.
